Why are people driving towards me, flashing their lights at me? Is this some game played by Baja gangs where they are picking out tourist as targets?

No, people driving in the opposite direction are flashing their lights at you and many times drive with their flashers on to tell you of a hazard ahead. Whether it be an accident ahead, breakdown, road repair or the roving animals of the Baja they are giving you a courtesy notice to be aware. “Mucho Ojo” as the Mexican’s says. So take notice slow down and remember to offer the same courtesy to drivers when you encounter hazards ahead of them.

By helping one another, we can make driving the Baja, safer for all of us.
